Three of Hearts: Erotic Romance for Women

Edited by: Kristina Wright

Published by: Cleis Press  (2015)

Kristina Wright shows that three is the magic number in this steamy collection of stories all about threesomes. Maybe you have only fantasized about having two lovers at once… maybe you have had the pleasure of experiencing it for yourself. Either way, let your mind wander through the pages and get lost in each story.

These stories are versatile in their characters and include gay, straight, and bi-sexual scenes. There are stories about committed couples bringing in a third party, friends becoming more, and polyamorous relationships. I truly appreciate the diversity incorporated.

It was a hard choice to choose just one favorite from this collection. I finally settled on “Experience and Expectations” by Kathleen Tudor as my favorite. I love the raw vulnerability of one character as she experiences a man for the first time and how the other two soothe, caress, and explore her throughout the story.

The stories included in Three of Hearts: Erotic Romance for Women are “Movie Night” by Tiffany Reisz, “An Extra Pair of Eyes” by Rachel Kramer Bussel, “Eve’s Apple Red” by Angela Caperton, “Experience and Expectations” by Kathleen Tudor, “The Mistress in the Brat” by Skylar Kade, “What Happens in Denver” by Cheyenne Blue, “Old Habits” by Mina Murray, “Medley of Desire” by A.J. Lyle, “A Thief in the Night” by Giselle Renarde, “Drinking Games with Cowboys” by Axa Lee, “The Last Day of Summer” by Veronica Wilde, “Full Circle” by Jade Melisande, “Whose Anniversary Is It, Anyway?” by Annabeth Leong, “Limits of Endurance” by Ariel Graham, “Uncharted Seas” by Chris Komodo, and “Three for the Road” by Kristina Wright.

A cosmo? Really? That’s the best you could do?” She couldn’t help the complaint, even as the heat from the sweet drink made its way through her body.

The stranger gave her a good long look up and down. “What did you have in mind instead, princess?”

“First, it’s princess types who drink cosmos—not me. Second, I’ll take a Maker’s Mark. Neat. I’m Billie.”

“My treat,” he said, the words warming her far more than her generous sip had. She tapped her fingers on the wood, grateful she’d been growing out her nails and had just gotten them painted in her favorite red, the manicure equivalent of fuck-me heels.

As Billie sank into a fantasy about just how many ways this stranger could heat her—and Clyde—up, in the back of her mind, she knew she’d have to convince her husband. It’s not that he wasn’t adventurous in bed—he was up for almost anything—but he had his pride, and it was no secret that a threesome pushed some touchy buttons for him. Whenever the topic had come up before, Clyde had made it clear he was afraid that what Billie really wanted was a man with a bigger cock, a rougher touch—in other words, a man who wasn’t him. No matter how many ways she’d reassured him that she didn’t want someone to replace him and never would, her explanations never quite got through to him.

At first, she’d been embarrassed and uncertain; maybe she was asking for too much, being too greedy. But the more she thought about it, the surer she was that Clyde would actually like it if there were another man in the room with them. She knew him well enough to know he’d get off on an extra pair of eyes to ogle him when she played with his nipples or tapped the riding crop against his balls or teasingly licked her way up his shaft, an extra pair of hands to hold Clyde open as she pressed a plug right against his hole before sinking it deep inside, and an extra set of lips to kiss Clyde’s when she was busy. Every time they’d done something as remotely risqué as getting handsy in a movie theater, or she’d mentioned someone checking him out, Clyde had reacted. Maybe he didn’t realize that his breathing got heavier, his cock harder, but she did.

She’d bet good money that once in an intimate setting with her and another man—or another woman—Clyde would happily enjoy triple the pleasure.

Perhaps all that sounded selfless, when in fact she was being selfish. The very idea of watching another man enjoy her husband in the way she did made her mad with lust. Yet up until then, it had been just that for her—an idea, a fantasy, a utopian dream. She’d let herself succumb to Clyde’s doubts, despite every part of her tingling with anticipation when she pictured in flagrant detail what the three of them could get up to.

“For you,” Mr. Cosmo said, presenting her a new glass with a flourish, a look of amusement and arousal on his face. This sexy stranger seemed like he might just be the answer to her dreams. The more they communicated, silently and through words, the more her entire body heated up. He had the one quality every man she’d ever bedded had shared: the ability to look at her like he could see every dirty thought percolating in her mind. In turn, that knowingness made her want to share all her extremely dirty—filthy, really—thoughts. And just as she drained her last sip of what had turned out to be a very delicious cosmo, Billie leaned over and went for it. After all, if you can’t tell a stranger who buys you a drink and looks at you like you’re naked what you’re really thinking, why bother? “I’m married. But I still want to take you home with me. With us. As a treat. Like a Christmas present in…April. You’d be a gift to my husband, Clyde. But I’d get to unwrap you.”

Billie made sure her lips touched the man’s ear, an ear she was suddenly very hungry to nibble on, to run her tongue along the delicate skin, to see what would happen when she made contact. She wanted to look down at the ground, to let her blush say everything she couldn’t, after that confession, but she used her liquid courage to stare right up into those mesmerizing blue eyes. She stared steadily, directly, not wanting to pretend she hadn’t just dropped a bomb on him, albeit, she hoped, a sexy bomb. Her eyes didn’t beg or promise; they simply looked, absorbing him, giving him a teaser of what she would look like naked, raw, stripped totally bare.

“You want to play with me, is what you’re asking, Billie? You and Clyde?” He drew out the words, his gaze jumping from her eyes very deliberately to her lips, moving almost imperceptibly closer as he dangled the promise of his presence before her.

“Yes. I want to watch you two…and touch you two. I want you to fuck Clyde. And fuck me.” She hadn’t planned to say the F word once, let alone twice. It sounded so dirty out in the open like that, and yet it was the only word that would get across exactly what she wanted. She wanted to see this man’s cock, to take it in her hands, to wrap her lips around it, to watch it enter her husband, and later, to feel it impale her. She wanted it all, but asking a total stranger to give it to her was an experience Billie hadn’t indulged in for longer than she could remember.

He tugged her stool closer to his, the air between them now utterly electrified. She felt drunk from the intensity of his stare, from the way he’d taken her favorite fantasy and suddenly made it all too real. “And what do I get in return, Billie, for fucking both of you?”

The question was one only a man utterly confident in himself could ask. What would he get in return? Anything he wanted. But she couldn’t say that. She couldn’t give away the small semblance of control she still possessed. “What do you want?” she asked.
